Sophisticated Stones Outreach
In 2006, I took my first trip to India, and my life was transformed forever. While there, I became friends with my guide Ateeq, who presented me with an inside glance into the lives of school children in the rural village of Bodal in Northern India. I witnessed children in need of so many things we take for granted, like running water, medicine, adequate clothing and school supplies. Upon my return home, I made a vow to help these children as much as I could.
I have personally funded an effort to supply sweaters, shoes, uniforms and school provisions to children in Bodal for the past few years, and with Ateeq’s help, we have been able to distribute these items to many of the children who need them.
During my second trip to India in 2008, a reception was held to thank me, my son Wallace, his wife Lindsay, and Ateeq for our contributions. Words cannot describe how touching this experience was for all of us. To see the beautiful smiling faces of children beaming with thanks is something I will never forget!
As a result of our success in Bodal, teachers from other schools in the area have now begun to request our help. We need your help in order to continue! Our goal is to provide these children with the tools they need to get an education, as “this” is the door out of poverty! I realize that we all have causes that are close to our hearts, but if this project speaks to you, rest assured that your contribution will not only be appreciated, but will serve as a tool to improve the life of a child in need.
